Rest is good! 80:20 rule

So I have to confess, I did miss a week on the blog post! As I say to many of my students – who are far too honest when I ask if they’ve practiced in the last week (and they say “no”)- it’s ok to have a break! 

The 80:20 rule can be associated with many areas of your life, including music! It is OK to have a down week, but as long as it’s followed by a week ‘back on it’. I find you are more refreshed and more enthusiastic to get back to something after a little break.

This is true for diet, exercise etc. You are defined by what you do 80% of the time, so make room for a guilt free 20% of indulgent food, exercise free days, and time off…. Just make sure you keep it to 20%!
